Police

The Police Department shall perform law enforcement activities within the city and as otherwise authorized by the City Commission and local, state and federal law. The Police Department shall be subject to the provisions of §§ 37.01 et seq.

The Commission member who oversees this department shall help insure such laws are enforced justly and professionally. This Commission member also works with the Police Chief in drafting and recommending any policy changes or modifications as well as works with the Police Chief to help present a yearly budget request for the Police Department. This Commission Member seeks, or assists other Commission Members, and applies for grants applicable to this Department or the City.
